1941 BUICK SUPER BUSINESS COUPE This is an amazing almost 80-year old time warp Buick. It is original from the paint on through to the interior. Its solid as all get out and runs superbly having had the engine rebuilt. The engine is so smooth and quiet it’s amazing. Believed to be only a two-owner car with the most recent owner buying it April 16th, 1975 when he was just 25 years old for $300.00. The Series 56 came with a 125 bhp, 248 cu. in. OHV inline eight-cylinder engine with dual two-barrel carburetors, three-speed column-shift manual transmission, independent front coil-spring suspension, live rear axle with coil springs, and four-wheel hydraulic drum brakes sitting on a 121-inch wheelbase. This car has the optional rear axle ratio of 3.9:1. Big news at Buick in 1941 was what was called Compound Carburetion. This system used a pair of two-barrel carburetors: the front carburetor functioned all the time, with the barrels each feeding four cylinders, and the rear carb, with only a float system and jets, came into play during acceleration and at high speeds, when its barrels worked in parallel with those of the front carb. The system became standard on upper series and optional on Specials, but it was used in 1941 and 1942 only. It appears only 2,452 of this Model were ever built. Not very many 80-years later. Produced only in 1941, this body style would be gone by the next model year. Buick then moved into the war effort producing armaments. It has the Unique Buick piano hinged hood, which opened in one piece, from either side to reveal the “Fireball” straight 8 power plant. The Business Coupe came without a back seat which gave a massive area for the roving salesman to store their wares. We have many receipts for work performed going back to 1981 at which time the speedometer was at 61,924. In March 1986 it was 64,378 and in October 2000 it was only 64,600 so obviously in storage those years. On October 15, 2000 it was put back on the road at 64,648 miles. Today it has 75,828 miles showing. This mileage is believed to be accurate and if so it puts it at under 1,000 miles per year, that’s low by any standards. Finished in Chenanga Gray over Tan Bedford Cord Upholstery.
