1971 MERCEDES BENZ 280 SE3.5 CABRIOLET

SOLD

One of the most sought after combinations of all for a Mercedes Benz of this era, and very rare at that, with only 1,232 Cabriolets being made. This is the low grille version 280SE, powered by the 3.5 litre V8, originally rated at 230 horsepower giving these cars terrific performance. Introduced in Europe in 1969 as a 1970 model, continuing on as a 1971 model. For the United States most all 3.5 cars are only 1971 models. Equipment includes the original Behr air conditioning, power steering, power brakes and power windows.

In recent time somebody has spent a lot of money on this car as the paint work, the leather interior, carpets and convertible top all appear to be near new with the woodwork still very good with only slight blemishing. The body has very good panel fit and is in extremely good condition as is the floors and trunk floor. The undercarriage appears original and as with the rest of the car is in uncommonly good condition as these are common problem areas for rust with these cars. All of the light lenses and chrome are also in lovely condition. The radio is the sought after original style AM/FM Becker Europa. Finished in Medium Silver Blue Metallic with Navy Blue leather interior and a Navy Blue convertible top with the leather Navy blue boot.
