1969 CHEVROLET CAMARO CONVERTIBLE
Here is a Camaro Convertible for the enthusiast who enjoys classic car looks and style but demands more modern mechanicals and handling. We have a stack of receipts that are truly amazing and makes you realize what it takes to build a car of this caliber. The gentleman we acquired the car from had owned the car for about 20 years and decided it was time to make it what he had always wanted, a great road car. Starting the beginning of 2003 and almost two years of time and his estimate of Eighty Thousand Dollars later he got what he wanted, a stunning Camaro Convertible. The car was completely stripped down including the removal of front sheet metal, windshield, interior, dash, wiring, windows and doors, sub frame, suspension, rear end, trunk, bumpers, moldings, trim, badges and all the mechanicals to be thoroughly restored and rebuilt. Brakes were upgraded to 4-wheel disc brakes with power assistance and stainless steel brake lines. The heater panel was removed, the firewall smoothed with no extra holes, painted and finished superbly. The engine bay is outstanding. Custom air conditioning and heat was added and an aluminium radiator with a fan shroud and a new wiring harness fitted. Dynamat was used under the carpets and rubber lining in the doors. The engine, a 350 cubic inch Chevrolet with 9.2:1 compression was professionally rebuilt, balanced and blue printed. It has a high rise aluminium intake manifold and Chevrolet Aluminium valve covers. Bore is at 4.060 and the cam is a hydraulic with .460 lift. It has a great sound to it and is probably in the region of 400 horsepower, coupled to a Turbo 350 transmission with a Lokar Floor shifter. The exhaust is a dual system with Dougs headers running into Flow Master style mufflers. Extensive use of steel fittings and with some Aeroquip hosing is used. Sub-frame connectors were installed for added rigidity. Wheels are 17 inch Boyd Coddington Evolutions with Toyo Proxes T1-S, 265X40ZR on the rear and 235X40 ZR 17’s up front. The dash is again custom, with full Auto Meter Pro Competition gauges, speedometer, tachometer, oil pressure, fuel, voltage and water temperature. It has a tilt steering column with a billet Budnik steering wheel. All of the inside door handles, window handles and pedals are Billet Aluminium as well. Finished in Ferrari Silver Blue colour with upholstery that is all custom with Porsche style leather and suede in Black with Steel Blue inserts.
