1953 PONTIAC CHIEFTAIN CONVERTIBLE

SOLD

Here we have a pretty rare car. We don’t know the actual production number but not seeing them often and having never had one before always tells us how rare they are. The example we have here is an original equipment Straight Eight engine with Hydramatic transmission that has been upgraded. Originally intended to be a V8 but because of the untimely death of Arnold Lenz, Pontiac’s general manager at the time, the V8 was delayed until the 1955 models. Keeping this in mind, upgrading to a V8 is not that difficult and this car has a 1973 era Pontiac 400 cubic inch V8 coupled to a Turbo 400 automatic transmission. It really makes for a nice performing vehicle. The rest of the vehicle has retained its original style appearance and equipment. The convertible top is power operated and it does have power steering. In the dash is the original style AM radio while in the glove box is a Pioneer AM/FM CD player. It has the wire wheel caps and full fender skirts and that incredibly neat hood ornament that lights up. Overall a lovely car with an older restoration that still shows really well and a wonderful car to drive. Finished in a Forest Green with Two Tone Beige and Dark Green interior and Beige convertible top in a canvas style material.
